After finishing second in the Tour de France (no one cares about the guy who finished between Contador and Lance...), I've actually started to look into the route for our trip. Though we'll miss out on Vancouver, we'll ferry from Seattle to Victoria and then head south through the San Juan Islands and eventually biking past Olympic National Forest on the peninsula. Portland will be quite a detour. We're looking at a 200 mile ride (roundtrip) on not-so-bike-friendly highways, which will probably take us a week to get back on route.
Other than biking, I have spent many hours in meditation and consulting my neighbor, a bike touring Sensei.

3 weeks and counting
With an increased desire for flexibility and a cheap plane ticket, we will be starting the tour out of Seattle on August 16 instead of the tentative 21. This is great news because it means we will have an opportunity to bike to some locations off the coast (namely Mt. Hood and Portland, OR.) Unfortunately it does mean that we are striking plans for Alan and myself to spend a few days in Vancouver...not a huge deal. I can't wait, through I am taking a week off of training to go backpacking with my brother in Smoky Mountain National Park.
